The Wizard and the Four Elements
Tags: steves-libraryThere was once a wizard who lived in a castle deep within the earth.
This wizard was approached by she of fire to help cool her heart, so that she may walk among the mortals without fear of burning them.
The wizard sent for the she of water to help, and the two beings agreed to help each other and the wizard crafted them two stones, a water stone for she of fire and a fire stone for she of water.
This made the other elements jealous, and they demanded that the wizard present them similar gifts.
The wizard could not decline the one of earth and the one of air and so gifted them each the other’s stone, of earth and air.
The wizard, seeing an opportunity, approached they of life and death, and offered to bind their essence as he had done for four elements already.
They of life and death were so offended by his supposed offer that they sent their children to the realm of mortals to destroy the wizard.
The wizard, having known the power of they of the elements, brought the other children from their own homes into the realm of mortals, to protect himself against the children of life and death.
He died.
NB: the phrase ‘he died’ is a common ending in Dwarven children’s tales, often leaving the precise events to the imagination
